Tuesday the 14th mid-day. Packing the Edge and topping off with fuel. Weather forecast: front coming in from England, so departure must be now. Unfortunately no tailwind, so fuelstop planned at EDQP Speichersdorf.
Take off at 12: 50 LT. Climbing to level 65 and leaving Dutch Mill after 6 min\'s, handing me over to Langen radar.
Winds were more favorable than forecasted and after 1 hr 15 min\'s arriving overhead EDQP. I decided to ask München radar to change my flightplan into final destination LHTL Tököl Budapest. Ground speeds between 175 Kts and 200 Kts must make it possible to make it without fuelstop and land with enough reserve fuel.
Czech air traffic control was friendly as ever. Au contraire to Slovak control, who did not want lo let me in their airspace, for unknown reasons. So a diversion of 15 min\'s to avoid my Slovak friends. :-(
Over to Per control for crossing their area and they handed me over to Budapest radar. A quick Hi over Besenyei\'s home and after 3:30 hrs flying time landing in Budapest with still 45 liters in the tank. Unbelievable endurance of my little monster. BTW, it has been a historical day for The Netherlands as the Edge left the country again and will not come back in 2007. Nobody knows what the palns are for 2008. Although rumours say that the Dutch Air Race Team (DART) is trying to find sponsors for 2008, bringing the team on the podium. Within a couple of weeks Red Bull will decide if Rotterdam will have a race in 2008. Let\'s keep our fingers crossed.
Unfortunately I was not able to fly Rotterdam last saturday because there have been some communication problems at the fast forward dance parade, resulting is the town council withdrawing the permission to fly. Completely beyond our influence. Sorry my fans, but, remember, I\'ll be BACK!!!!!!!!!!! |
