Dramatic qualification!
Yesterday the qualification took place for the first race of the Red Bull Air Race world series 2006, in Abu Dhabi.
The temps were high and the air very thin. So all times were much slower than the day before.
It was a very spectaculair qualy and pilots were hit like "99 luftballons" from Nena. Some planes had to tailslide to get the fabric of the wing, others diverted to Al Bateen with fabric on the spade. I personally had the honour of killing gate # 15 as the first pilot.
Many followed. I think more than 8 times gate 15 was busted.
TV crew must be very happy.
This morning it is warm again and very hazy. So promissing conditions for the race.
