Fantastic weather this weekend.
It was a combination of flying guests and do airshows. Three years ago Jan vd Kamp asked me to fly over an event at his soccerclub SDC in Putt\'n.
Jan wanted to tell the members of the soccer club that he "borowed" my Extra and flew some loops etc. over the club. (Of course I liked the idea and approved)
Unfortunately it never happened. So now, three years later we settled the bill. I understood form all the mails and sms messages that there were a lot of happy people in Putt\'n. :-) After this surprise demo I flew guests. Ex KLM Captain Remmo Schwartzenberg took the controls of the Extra, and....he did well (considering his age :-)))))
I donated a flight for Warchild at an auction and the flight was made by Bas Barenbrug from the Grass seed company.
After flying the guests I flew from Teuge to Stadlohn with Bart Westerman on board. He just returned from China and enjoyed Lichtenvoorde from the air.
At Stadlohn the beer was waiting and also the collegues and organisers from Buurse airshow. A pleasant evening.
I was woken up by the Churchbells in the village, at 0930 there was singing in the church. Time to leave for the airport.
Super conditions and a historical moment. I went to the briefing. The first airshow briefing in many years. (I personally prefer briefs by phone. Quicker and better and defiitely more fefficient). You cannot imagine how boaring it is to have to listen to the local school teacher who does one briefing every five years. :-(
Bla di bla, bla bla X 100
I understood that Buurse might organise a landing strip in 2011. Looking forward to it.
It was a weekend with mixed emotions. A few days ago Svetlana Federenko died in a Yak-52 accident in Moscow. A very talented pilot she will be missed!
Another tragic accident was Vicky Cruse crashing during the World Aerobatic Championships in England. Two passionate aviators no longer with us.
My thoughts are with their loved ones!
